Purple Galaxy

So I finally tried a galaxy mani...
...and I think I did "ok" for my first go.  A couple of weeks ago I finally found the artist behind all of the rad mani's (esp galaxy ones) that I have seen shamelessly reposted all over Pinterest and Instagram.  I won't repost because I don't have her permission, but please go take a look at the very talented Coewless .  You will have to let google translate for you, but its worth it.
I had seen her purple/pink version of a galaxy mani and knew I had to try my hand at it.  She has a couple of tutorials on YouTube if you need some help.
This is what I ended up with:
The colors I used are listed above.  I started with a base of "Truth or Dare" from Sinful colors and sponged a combination of the others with a torn up makeup sponge.  I finished everything off with a coat of Northern Lights (it fixes everything doesn't it?!) and then used some white acrylic paint and an old tooth brush to splatter some "stars" and a striping brush to make some defined stars. Seriously, Coewless' tutorial is worth a watch!
What do you think?  I like the way they turned out, but I think with a little more practice I can make them look better.  I'm going to try a traditional galaxy mani soon...perhaps I'll find my stride.
How was every one's weekend?

NOTD: Spoiled Duo

Have y'all tried Spoiled by Wet 'N Wild polishes?
They are at the same $2 price point as Sinful Colors, but perhaps a half a step down.
Don't let that detour you, they are definitely still worth your while.  Who doesnt like cheap polishes?
I picked up these two a while ago at a CVS sale and "Distant Memory" (the teal) is one of my favorites.  These polishes feature a wide brush similar to Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polishes and dry really quick.  Distant memory is a beautiful dark teal with a slight shimmer to it.  It is opaque in 2 coats and dries matte.
Since I knew I was going to layer glitter over it I only used one coat of Distant Memory and Use Protection (*giggles).  The glitter per coat pay off is awesome with Use Protection....no need to do any placement or dab extra in certain spots.  I love this glitter polish.  It's a mix of large holographic and blue hex glitters and fine holographic glitter in a sea blue/teal jelly base. I'm almost positive that Sinful Colors has an identical version of Use Protection (dont know the name)....just in case.  It's a great layering polish!
Find any good cheap polishes lately?

Candyland Gradient

The gradient color combo I'm going to show you today isn't new.  In fact I have a screen shot of it from instagram so I could remember to try these colors together.  We all know that I'm slightly obsessed with doing gradient manicures....so one thing led to another and here we are today with what I am calling the "Candyland" gradient.
I used Sally Hansen Fuchsia Flare and Lively Lilac, China Glaze Aquadelic and topped it off with a coat of INM Northern Lights.
What do you think?  It screams candy right?
Or just springtime...whateves...I'm happy with it.
Hope y'all are having a good monday!

Sally Hansen Peach Breeze and flakies

Just wanted to pop by and show you a quick mani I did with a new Sally Hansen Insta-Dri
Peach Breeze
This polish is pretty much a neon coral creme that leans more toward the orange tones than pink.
I used 2 coats for a perfect opaque finish.  I have I ever told y'all how much I love Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polishes?  Out of all the polish I own, I have more Insta-Dries than anything else.  Added bonus...most of them stamp really well.
The color in the pictures are slightly off.  I swear this polish glows neon coral.
And because I can't leave well enough alone I decided to throw a coat of Color Clubs Snowflakes on top.  I love this flakie polish (I still can't find Essie Shine of the Times).  These warm toned flakies really accentuate the polish color and creates extra sparkle and texture.
This is a great color for spring and definately summertime...bright and happy.

Valentines Day Nail Art Challenge Day 6 - Your Choice

Today wasn't really a challenge day.  I wanted y'all to have the freedom to do what you wanted for Valentines day.
I decided that since I have been doing detailed nail art for this challenge I should do something simple and elegant.
Here are my Glitter Gradient Valentines Day nails - Sally Hansen Flashy Fuchsia and Razzle Dazzler
I'm on the fence on how it came out.  Ive done glitter gradients before and they have looked better.  My Razzle Dazzler is old and getting really thick, so I had a hard time getting the gradient smooth.  They will do.
I would like to thank everyone you has been reading and keeping up with my posts.  It means a lot.  Also super special thanks for my challenge participants Elena and Lynette.  I didnt expect anyone to participate in my challege, especially since I am new to the block, so it was really nice to meet these two and get their encouragement.
Please go check out their Valentines Day nails:

2. Lynette from Pink & Purple Dots

I hope everyone has a great Valentines Day!

Valentines Day Nail Art Challenge Day 5 - Hearts

Only one more day left in this little challenge!
Today's theme is Hearts.
I knew going into this challenge that I was going to do some stamping, but I also wanted to try water marbling ( i know...i know...how have I not done this before?).  Earlier this week on instagram I saw an awesome heart shaped water marble (@milly_cutenails) and knew that I had to try it myself.  Lets just say its not easy to water marble, let alone capture a heart small enough to fit on your fingernail (tip use a small mouth cup).  I was able to make some successful hearts but once on my finger I realized it was much bigger than it looked in the cup.  Then I smeared a few, once on my nail, and had to re-do...boo.  I think I ended up attempting the heart about 5 times before I settled on what is on my middle finger here....1 finger!!!
So here is my Heart skittles mani
As you can see I only got the humps of my heart! But I think it turned out pretty.  I added some dots and little hearts with a dotting tool to cover any air bubbles and make it look more "heart" themed.  My other fingers were stamped with a mix of Bundle Monster and Cheeky heart themed nail plates.
Pinky - Sally Hansen White on stamped with Rapid Red (Insta-Dri)
Ring - Sinful Colors Truth or Dare stamped with Sally Hansen Pink Satin (Extreme Wear)
Middle - Marble of Sally Hansen Rapid Red, Flashy Fuchsia, White On, Northern Lights
Index - Color Club Miss Bliss stamped with Konad White

All in all im pretty happy with this mani.  What do you think?
Only one more day left and you get to choose what you want for Valentines Day.
Please go check out my fellow participants and share the love:

Valentines Day Nail Art Challenge Day 4 - Cupid's Curse

Today's challenge is Cupid's curse.  I'll be honest, I have no idea why I threw this one in here and it has proved to be the most challenging of them all.  Not because of the skill needed to execute, but because no one knew what the heck to paint!  Me included.
The first thing I think of for cupid is a naked angel baby with a bow and arrow and some pierced hearts....who thought up this stuff? It's creepy.  So I decided to go with an arrow and some hearts.
What do you think?  Meh, they are not my favorite mani from this challenge, but they will do.  I started with Sally Hansen Blue Away as a base and then sponged on some clouds with Sally Hansen White out, accented with China Glaze White Cap.  Then I pained the arrow with China Glaze Mahogany Magic and Zoya Jinx.  The hearts are Sally Hansen Rapid Red. Arrow tip is Revlon Gold Coin and arrow accents are Sally Hansen Rose Run and Flashy Fuchsia.
Only 2 more challenge days left!!
Hop on over and check out the other participants of this challenge and share the love:
